MDB2PULSE

Computer Peripheral for interfacing MDB protocol devices with a personal computer

The MDB2Pulse is designed to allow the end user to program in what a coupon is worth. Once programmed the MDB2Pulse monitors the MDB for Bill Validator Activity. If a bill has been inserted, the MDB2Pulse check to see if it was a coupon. If it was a coupon, it is compared to a table of values stored in memory. Based on the values in the table, a pulse output is created corresponding to the value of the coupon.

The Pulse can be set to 50ms or 150msec. There are 16 different values that can be programmed in memory. The MDB2PULSE sends information generated by the MDB device out of the 2 pin MOLEX connector in pulses, either 300ms or 50ms.There is no need to poll each MDB device. This is done by the MDB2PULSE. By default the MDB2PULSE will currently poll only bill validators. The MDB2PULSE then sends data if there is activity. The information sent is in pulses. The number of pulses sent out for each bill type are stored in the EEPROM memory of the PIC, which can be changed/upgraded through the software MDB2Pulse.

This product is unique in two ways.
1. it converts the MDB Bill Validator signal into pulse and
2. it allows values to be stored on the interface that can be changed when the user desires to change the value of the coupon without reprinting coupons
